Human Remains Discovered at Bristol’s Clifton Suspension Bridge

-

British police have launched a manhunt after discovering two suitcases containing what is believed to be human remains at the Clifton Suspension Bridge in Bristol, southwest England.

Authorities received a report of a man behaving suspiciously with a suitcase on the bridge just before midnight on Wednesday. By the time police arrived, the man had left, abandoning one suitcase; a second was found nearby.

Avon and Somerset Police stated on Thursday that the suitcases are likely to contain human remains.

Acting Bristol Commander Vicks Hayward-Melen described the incident as deeply concerning and emphasized the priority to locate the man who left the suitcases, identify the deceased, and notify their next of kin.

Police are currently interviewing the taxi driver who transported the man to the bridge and have impounded the vehicle. The bridge itself, a significant local landmark designed by engineer Isambard Kingdom Brunel and opened in 1864, is closed while forensic investigators conduct their examination.
