A man posing as a firefighter to loot homes amid the devastating wildfires in Hollywood,Los Angeles, has been arrested, exposing a shocking betrayal of trust.
According to American media reports, authorities apprehended the individual in Malibu during the Los Angeles wildfires. He was dressed as a firefighter and caught stealing from homes.
Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Officer Robert Luna confirmed the arrest.He stated, “I noticed a man in Malibu who appeared to be a firefighter. I saw him sitting down and asked if he was okay. I didn’t realize he was handcuffed.”
Luna explained that the suspect had been caught earlier by officers while committing theft in a home.The individual was handed over to Los Angeles police following his arrest.Robert Luna further revealed that approximately 29 people involved in looting during the wildfires in Los Angeles have been arrested.
He also noted that one person was arrested on Saturday night for violating the city’s curfew order, while three others were detained on Friday for theft.
