he Al-Qassam Brigades – Hamas’ armed wing – have confirmed that their spokesperson Abu Obeida was killed in an Israeli airstrike on Saturday. The strike targeted an apartment in Gaza, killing everyone inside, according to Arab media.

In a statement reported by Arab outlets, the Al-Qassam Brigades said that Abu Obeida was among those killed when Israeli warplanes bombed the flat he was using in Gaza. His family, along with senior leaders of the brigades, later identified his body.
Abu Obeida, who had served for years as the public face of Hamas’ military wing, was known internationally for delivering statements during times of conflict. His death marks one of the most high-profile losses for Hamas in the ongoing war.
Israeli strike targeted Gaza apartment
According to sources speaking to Al Arabiya, the Israeli military specifically targeted the residence where Abu Obeida was staying. All occupants of the apartment were killed in the attack.
On Saturday, Israeli media had already reported that the army was aiming to eliminate Abu Obeida, citing his symbolic role as the voice of the Ezzedine al-Qassam Brigades
