Gaza Flotilla Updates –Cyber Siege, Naval Blockade, Global Outcry

-

The Global Sumud Flotilla, a humanitarian fleet of 40 boats with 500 activists from 40 countries, including lawmakers, UN reps, and climate icon Greta Thunberg, is now just 100 nautical miles from Gaza. Packed with food and medical aid, the mission is under mounting pressure as Israeli forces tighten their grip.

Cyber War at Sea

Flotilla organizers accuse Israel of launching cyberattacks that jammed all communications and GPS, leaving vessels vulnerable. Activists say warships and drones shadowed the convoy, dropping stun grenades and chemical powder in earlier encounters.

Brazilian activist Thiago Ávila reported: “Two Israeli warships encircled Alma and Sirius – but we will not stop. This is the decisive stage of our mission.”

“Abduction Inevitable” – Lawmakers Sound Alarm

French MEP Emma Fouria warned on X: “Our abduction by Israel seems inevitable – 10 to 12 naval ships are closing in.”
Irish Senator Chris Andrews called on the EU to intervene, saying an Israeli interception looked imminent.

Former Pakistani senator Mushtaq Ahmed Khan, onboard the flotilla, posted a video showing Israeli vessels nearby. After his phone was jammed, he threw it into the sea, declaring: “We are wearing life jackets, but we will not give up.”

Global Pushback

UN expert Francesca Albanese condemned Israel’s actions as a “clear violation of international maritime law,” stressing Gaza’s waters are not under Israeli sovereignty.

Turkey is tracking the flotilla with drones, while Italy and Spain dispatched rescue vessels but ruled out military involvement. Several European nations have urged Israel to protect civilians and avoid escalation.

A Haunting Reminder of 2010

The crisis mirrors the 2010 Gaza Freedom Flotilla raid, when Israeli forces killed nine activists. Once again, a humanitarian convoy carrying food and medicine risks being stopped at sea – a flashpoint drawing worldwide attention.

If unblocked, the flotilla is expected to reach Gaza’s shores by Thursday morning. With Israeli naval power converging, the world is watching whether aid or aggression will prevail.
