Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg was arrested by Israeli forces at the port of Ashdod while aboard the Alma, part of the Global Sumud Flotilla delivering humanitarian aid to Gaza.

The flotilla, consisting of over 40 civilian boats carrying around 500 passengers, included parliamentarians, lawyers, activists, and notable figures like Mandla Mandela, Nelson Mandela’s grandson. Despite repeated Israeli warnings, the fleet attempted to breach the maritime blockade.

Israeli military now control six vessels: Sirus, Alma, Spectra, Hoga, Adara, and Deir Yassin. The arrest was captured in a video shared by the Israeli Foreign Ministry on X, highlighting the detention during the humanitarian mission.

Earlier, 20 Israeli military ships intercepted the flotilla about 120 km off Gaza’s coast, preventing the delivery of aid and intensifying global scrutiny on the ongoing maritime standoff.

The incident has drawn worldwide attention to humanitarian aid efforts, climate activism, and international tensions in Gaza.
Palestine Action Coalition told that Ex Senator Mushtaq Ahmed Khan also arrested by Israeli forces .
