Family in Gujarat Performs Last Rites for 12 Year Old Car with Over 1,500 Attendees

-

In Gujarat, a family conducted the last rites and buried their 12-year-old car, with more than 1,500 people attending the ceremony.

According to a report by India Today, the event took place in Amreli district of Gujarat, where the family held a special ceremony for the car’s final rites, which became a popular topic on social media.

Millions of Indian rupees were spent on the car’s last rites, and it was buried on the owner’s agricultural land.

Videos shared on social media show the Wagon R car decorated with flowers and garlands, being lowered into a 15-foot-deep pit, with many family members present during the ceremony.

Sanjay Palora, the car’s owner, explained the emotional attachment, stating that the car played a vital role in the success of his family. He runs a construction business in Surat.

He said, “I bought this car around 12 years ago, and it brought prosperity to our family. Since then, our business has grown, and we’ve seen social progress as well.”

Sanjay added that instead of selling the car, the family decided to honor it with the highest respect to express their gratitude for the good fortune it brought them.

Family members did not oppose the idea of performing the last rites for the car.

After wrapping the car in green cloth, traditional prayers were performed, flowers were showered on it, and pandits chanted prayers, while garba dances were also performed around the car.
