In a unique approach to promoting environmental awareness, the French theme park Puy du Fou has enlisted the help of crows to keep the area clean.
The park has trained six rooks—Boubou, Bamboo, Bill, Black, Bricole, and Baco—to collect cigarette butts and small pieces of trash in exchange for food.
Under the supervision of a falconer, these birds were taught to drop litter into a designated container, earning treats as a reward. The primary goal of this project isn’t just to tidy the park but to educate visitors about the impacts of littering on the environment.
The concept originated from the park’s falconry show, where birds were already trained to deliver items like roses to a “princess.” Now, the crows serve as a reminder of how intelligent animals can play a role in environmental stewardship, inspiring visitors to be more mindful of their waste.
