Bill Gates Falls Out of World’s Top 10 Richest for the First Time Since 1991
Bill Gates, once a consistent figure among the world’s top 10 wealthiest individuals, has experienced a notable decline in his wealth ranking.
According to Forbes, the Microsoft co-founder has now dropped to 12th place on the global list of billionaires, marking the first time since 1991 that Gates has fallen out of the top 10.
Gates, who previously held the first or second spot for years on Forbes’ list of America’s 400 richest individuals, has now slipped to 9th place, down from 6th last year.
Although Gates still holds a net worth of $107 billion, his fortune has decreased by $4 billion compared to last year. This drop is mainly due to his 2021 divorce from Melinda French Gates, his wife of 27 years.
In May, Melinda announced her decision to step down as co-chair of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
