The world’s shortest train line, located in downtown Los Angeles’ Bunker Hill district, is the Angels Flight Railway.
Spanning just 298 feet (two city blocks), it lasts less than one minute from start to finish.
With two cars, Olivet and Sinai, Angels Flight is a funicular railway running on a steep incline along a shared line.
The railway’s stations are located at California Plaza and South Hill Street.
Debuting in 1901, Angels Flight originally connected Hill Street and Olive Street.
It was dismantled in 1969 for urban development and rebuilt half a block away in 1996.
Following a fatal accident in 2001, the railway closed, reopening in 2010 and again in 2017.
Today, it remains a popular tourist attraction.
