Islamabad – A powerful diplomatic statement has emerged as 16 countries, including Pakistan, Turkey, Brazil, South Africa, and Ireland, jointly warned that any attack, obstruction, or unlawful action against the Global Samoud Flotilla carrying humanitarian aid to Gaza will not be tolerated.
The joint declaration, signed by the foreign ministers of Pakistan, Bangladesh, Brazil, Colombia, Indonesia, Ireland, Libya, Malaysia, Maldives, Mexico, Oman, Qatar, Slovenia, South Africa, Spain, and Türkiye, underscored that the flotilla’s mission is strictly humanitarian — to deliver food, medical supplies, and other essential aid to the besieged people of Gaza.
The ministers emphasized that any aggression in international waters, including illegal detention of flotilla participants or violent interception, would be considered a violation of international law and human rights. They warned that accountability mechanisms would be pursued against those responsible for such actions.
The declaration comes amid growing global outrage over Israel’s continued blockade of Gaza, which has left millions facing shortages of medicine, food, and clean water. The Global Samoud Flotilla — inspired by the Freedom Flotilla Movement of 2010, when Israeli forces stormed the Mavi Marmara killing 10 activists — aims to break the blockade and deliver life-saving assistance.
The joint statement further called for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, unhindered humanitarian access, and full respect for international humanitarian law.
With several aid ships already en route, international observers warn the situation could escalate if the flotilla is obstructed. Human rights groups argue that blocking humanitarian supplies to Gaza would deepen the crisis and further isolate Israel diplomatically.
