Netflix Fined €4.75 Million for Mishandling User Data in Netherlands

The Netherlands has imposed a fine of 4.75 million euros ($4.98 million) on the video streaming company Netflix for mishandling users’ personal data.

According to details, the Netherlands’ Data Protection Authority issued a statement saying, “Between 2018 and 2020, Netflix did not provide adequate information to users about what the company was doing with their personal data. Furthermore, the information that was provided was unclear in some cases.”

Officials also noted that Netflix later updated its privacy statement and improved the information provided to users about the use of their data. Netflix has appealed against this fine.
