A New Way to Dislike In an exciting new move, Instagram is testing a “dislike button” aimed at making comments on the platform more positive and controlled. Head of Instagram, Adam Mosseri, announced this experimental feature on Threads, revealing that users will soon be able to privately signal their discontent with certain comments using a downward-facing arrow next to the like button.
Private and Discreet The best part? There will be no visible dislike count, and no one will know who tapped the button, making it a discreet way to signal a negative reaction.
Creating a Friendlier Experience Instagram hopes the feature will help make comments “more friendly” by eventually integrating it into the comment ranking system. Disliked comments could be pushed lower down in the feed, improving the overall user experience.
Looking Ahead Christine Pai, an Instagram spokesperson, explained that the test is being conducted with a small group of users for now. As part of its ongoing efforts to enhance user control and refine the Instagram experience, this feature could soon change how we interact with comments on Reels and Feed posts. The future of Instagram comments just got a lot more interesting!
