PTA Warns Customers About Buying Smartphones

-

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has urged consumers to be cautious when purchasing mobile phones.

In a recent statement shared on social media, the PTA highlighted the risks of buying cloned or duplicate devices.

The PTA recommends buying phones only from reputable retailers and ensuring that the devices come with an active warranty. Consumers should also check that the phone’s IMEI number matches the one on the box and verify the PTA stamp.

To validate devices, the PTA suggests using the DVS app, texting the IMEI number to 8484, or visiting PTA’s website
https://dirbs.pta.gov.pk).

The PTA warned against purchasing expensive phones sold at unusually low prices or without a warranty. Customers should ensure that phones are boxed, contact the seller if issues arise, and report any fraud to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).
