In a jaw-dropping gaming marathon, a Hungarian gamer has set a new Guinness World Record by playing Dance Dance Revolution nonstop for 144 hours, surpassing the previous record.

34-year-old Hungary’s gamer Szabolcs Csépe, also known as GrassHopper, has etched his name in the Guinness World Records for the longest videogame marathon on a rhythm game, completing an astounding 144-hour nonstop session of Dance Dance Revolution.

The marathon took place in Kecskemét, Hungary, from October 23 to October 29, 2024, during which Szabolcs danced to over 3,000 songs, burning approximately 22,000 kilocalories in the process. His feat surpasses the previous record held by American gamer Kerry Swidecki, who played Just Dance for 138 hours and 34 seconds in 2015.

Csépe, who has previously set multiple marathon gaming records—including a 90-hour Gran Turismo 7 session and a 28-hour Naruto game marathon—described this latest attempt as “the most physically demanding experience” due to continuous movement, minimal rest, and strict documentation required for Guinness verification.

This record-breaking effort showcases not only his stamina and gaming skills but also the growing popularity and recognition of marathon gaming challenges worldwide. The achievement has now officially been recognized by Guinness World Records, making Szabolcs Csépe a global icon in endurance gaming.
