Gamescom 2025: Dinosaurs Roar Back in Turok: Origins
At Gamescom 2025, US studio Saber Interactive made one of the biggest splashes of the event by unveiling Turok: Origins, a fiery reboot of the iconic dinosaur-hunting franchise that once defined the Nintendo 64 era.
The new game blends survival against dinosaurs and alien combat with a modern, cinematic edge — offering both single-player campaigns and multiplayer battles.
From Comics to Cult Classic
Born in a 1950s comic, Turok exploded in the ’90s with Dinosaur Hunter and Seeds of Evil on the N64. Packed with wild weapons like the infamous Cerebral Bore, the games became cult hits. But the series fizzled out after a lackluster 2008 reboot.
Universal Sparks the Comeback
The revival began when Universal Studios, the force behind Jurassic Park, tapped Saber in 2020 to bring Turok back. The result is a third-person shooter that feels part Jurassic Park, part Predator — a mix of prehistoric beasts, alien invaders, and explosive action.
Studio head Jesus Iglesias says Origins stays loyal to the first two classics while rewriting the universe with deeper lore and next-gen gameplay.
Built for Today’s Gamers
With over 250 developers on the project, Saber promises fluid traversal, cinematic combat, massive maps, and brutal dinosaur encounters. Early demos teased alien boss fights and a revamped Cerebral Bore that had fans buzzing.
The Wait Begins
No release date yet, but Saber confirmed Turok: Origins will hit Xbox, PlayStation, and PC.
For gamers, this is more than a reboot — it’s the long-awaited return of a franchise where dinosaurs, aliens, and raw survival collide.
