Pakistani rower Rayyan Imran has made serious waves on the international stage, bagging gold in the Open Men’s Double Sculls and silver in Quads at the prestigious Dutch International Youth Regatta 2025.
The back-to-back podium finishes mark a proud moment not just in Imran’s blossoming career, but also for Pakistan’s presence in global rowing.
“This is not only a big milestone for me in my rowing career but also a big milestone for rowing in Pakistan,” said an elated Imran after his double medal victory.
Facing off against top-tier international competition, Imran’s impressive performance shines as a beacon of hope for Pakistan’s sports scene, particularly in water sports often overshadowed back home.
A seasoned competitor, Rayyan has rowed across the globe — from Vienna to Lithuania to the Maldives — and believes rowing can carve out a place in the hearts of Pakistani youth.
“I’ve been rowing for years and competed in many regattas worldwide. It’s a great sport for kids — and it’s massive internationally, even if it’s still growing in Pakistan,” he shared.
Beaming with pride, he added, “I’m proud to represent Pakistan. Alhamdulillah, I won as a Pakistani — and showed the world that Pakistan can row, and we can win.”
