India’s refusal to participate in the Champions Trophy in Pakistan has ignited heated discussions, with sports journalist Vikrant Gupta making a polarizing connection that has stirred further debate.
During a discussion on an Indian cricket website’s social media platform, Gupta claimed that India handed Pakistan a list of terrorist organizations and individuals, suggesting that taking action might have persuaded the Indian government to allow its team to participate.
Gupta also criticized Pakistan for welcoming Zakir Naik as a state guest, calling it a misstep. He remarked, “Pakistan must choose between Zakir Naik and hosting the Champions Trophy.”
A clip of his statement went viral, drawing sharp criticism from social media users. Some accused Gupta of promoting BCCI’s agenda to justify the boycott. One user commented, “Vikrant is spinning narratives to shield India’s extremist stance, likely on BCCI’s instructions.”
Meanwhile, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi reaffirmed that the Champions Trophy will proceed in Pakistan as planned and encouraged India to resolve its concerns through dialogue.
