“A Team to Watch For”-Ponting Sees Pakistan as Strong Contender for Champions Trophy

-

The stage is set for an exciting battle at the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, with Australian legend Ricky Ponting tipping Pakistan as a strong contender to make it to the final.

Speaking on The ICC Review alongside Ravi Shastri, Ponting emphasized that while India and Australia are firm favorites, Pakistan has emerged as a team to watch out for. Ponting lauded Pakistan’s recent outstanding form, particularly in one-day cricket, and noted that their unpredictable nature might work in their favor.

“Pakistan’s one-day cricket has been absolutely outstanding recently,” said Ponting. “While they can be unpredictable, they seem to have sorted things out.” With ODI series victories over world champions Australia, Zimbabwe, and South Africa, the Green Shirts are coming into the tournament with a lot of confidence.
