The Asia Cup 2025 final ended in chaos as PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi slammed Indian PM Narendra Modi for linking cricket with war, calling it “a sign of despair.”
PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi blasted Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s remarks after India’s Asia Cup 2025 win, saying linking war with sports was “a sign of despair” and against cricket’s spirit.
In a fiery statement, Naqvi declared:
“War is your pride, but history remembers your humiliating defeat by Pakistan. No cricket match can erase that truth.”
He said Modi’s war talk exposed frustration, not triumph.
The storm erupted when Modi posted on X:
“Outcome is the same – India wins! Congrats to our cricketers.”
The post, tied to “#OperationSindoor,” a controversial military reference, went viral and ignited backlash on both sides of the border.
Trophy Shock in Dubai
Adding fuel to the fire, India refused to accept the Asia Cup trophy from ACC chief Mohsin Naqvi during the closing ceremony. The BCCI formally notified officials, and the trophy was recalled from the stage.
Naqvi, unfazed, pressed on—handing Pakistan captain Salman Ali Agha the runner-up cheque. Fireworks lit up Dubai, while Indian players later posed for photos and celebrated—without the trophy or medals.

Modi’s viral post tying India’s win to “#OperationSindoor” sparked backlash, while trophy drama unfolded in Dubai when Team India refused to accept the Asia Cup from Naqvi.
The ceremony continued without India receiving medals, leaving fireworks and celebrations clouded by controversy.
