Pakistan’s batting maestro Babar Azam continues to receive backing from cricketing legends despite his ongoing struggle with form.

Former England captain Kevin Pietersen called Babar Azam his favorite Pakistani cricketer, praising his “unbelievable consistency and incredible talent” across all formats — Tests, ODIs, and T20s. Pietersen said Babar’s technique and temperament make him one of the finest batters in the modern game.

At the same time, Pakistan’s iconic Wasim Akram has urged the ex-skipper to ignore criticism and trust his natural class. Speaking on a private TV show, the Sultan of Swing advised Babar Azam to stay calm, avoid unnecessary press conferences, and focus on match-winning innings.
“Form is temporary, class is permanent,” Akram reminded. “Babar Azam already has world-class talent, but now he needs to deliver two or three big knocks to prove his dominance again.”
The star batter has not scored an international century since the Asia Cup 2023 clash against Nepal, and his dip in strike rate even saw him dropped from Pakistan’s T20 squad.
Still, with Kevin Pietersen’s admiration and Wasim Akram’s guidance, cricket fans believe Babar Azam is just one innings away from regaining form and reclaiming his spot as one of the best batters in world cricket.
