Pakistan’s opener Imam-ul-Haq has voiced strong support for his teammate Babar Azam, sharing a heartfelt message on Instagram that quickly went viral. The post comes as Babar faces harsh criticism following a disappointing performance in the recent T20 series against Australia.
Babar Azam has been under intense scrutiny lately. After failing to deliver in the T20 series against Australia, Pakistan suffered a whitewash.
A video recently went viral on social media, showing spectators at the Sydney Cricket Ground criticizing Babar harshly during the second T20 match. Some fans, who were in the stands as Babar fielded near the boundary, were heard saying, “Hey, have some shame. You don’t belong in the T20 team. Go back to Lahore.”
Although Babar glanced at the disruptive spectators, he chose not to respond.
Once the video gained traction online, Imam-ul-Haq shared it with a powerful message: “As a nation, we’ve failed. Instead of supporting, we’re mocking. Babar, you’re still a champion.”
It’s important to note that while Pakistan triumphed in the ODI series against Australia, they faced a heavy defeat in the T20 series.
The national team will now take on Zimbabwe in both T20 and ODI series.
