Iftikhar’s Insta Story-Self Praise, Mocking Teammates or Message to Selectors?

-

Pakistan cricketer Iftikhar Ahmed’s recent Instagram story has left fans scratching their heads and wondering if he’s sending a cryptic message or just having a laugh at the expense of his teammates.

Iftikhar’s last appearance for the national team was during the ICC T20 World Cup 2024, where he made a memorable contribution of 18 runs across two matches—an average of 11.50. Not exactly the stuff of legends. Unsurprisingly, he was dropped for the tours of Australia and South Africa right after.

But here’s where things get interesting: On Tuesday, Iftikhar shared a video on Instagram that quickly went viral.

The video shows Pakistan’s white-ball captain Mohammad Rizwan, vice-captain Salman Ali Agha, and former captain Shaheen Afridi trying to hit sixes but getting dismissed—classic cricket moments.

But then comes Iftikhar, effortlessly smashing sixes in the second part of the video.

And the captions? Oh, they’re just the icing on the cake. The first one reads, “Hitting sixes in Australia is not easy,” followed by, “Unless you are Iftikhar.”

Now, it’s unclear if Iftikhar was throwing some friendly shade at his fellow players or if he was subtly (or not-so-subtly) aiming this at the selectors. Either way, his Instagram story turned into a meme-worthy moment, and fans can’t decide whether to laugh, cry, or do both.
