PCB Assures ICC of Timely Stadium Upgrades for 2025 Champions Trophy
PCB officials have reassured the ICC that stadium renovations will be completed on time.
Sources report that the International Cricket Council (ICC) is satisfied with the detailed briefing from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) regarding preparations for the 2025 Champions Trophy, Geo News shared on Monday.
During an ICC meeting attended by PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, the officials confirmed that stadium upgrades are progressing as planned and will be finished within the set deadlines. Naqvi also invited ICC board members to visit Pakistan to review the preparations ahead of the tournament and extended an invitation for the event itself.
The tournament is scheduled from February 19 to March 9, 2025. However, Pakistan faces challenges, including uncertainty over India’s participation.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) awaits government approval to send their team. The PCB has previously suggested that the Indian team could return home after each match to minimize their stay in Pakistan during the tournament.
It is important to note that India and Pakistan have not played a bilateral series since 2012-13, and India’s last tour of Pakistan was in 2008.
