Horrible End to IPL Glory-Victory Parade Turns Deadly;11 Killed in Stampede

-

What started as a historic celebration for Royal Challengers Bengaluru turned into a scene of chaos and carnage, as a stampede outside Bengaluru’s Chinnaswamy Stadium killed 11 people and injured dozens during the team’s IPL 2025 title parade.

The night that was meant to end an 18-year drought for RCB instead plunged the city into mourning.

Euphoria Turns into Horror

With RCB clinching their first-ever IPL trophy after years of heartbreak, over 3 lakh frenzied fans swarmed the stadium — nearly 10 times its 35,000 capacity — to witness their team’s triumphant return. But when the team bus neared the venue and the chants grew deafening, the crowd surged uncontrollably.

Fans climbed trees, jumped barriers, and forced entry without passes. Gates buckled. People fell. Chaos exploded.

“I heard screams, then silence,” said one survivor. “It was like the crowd swallowed people whole.”

Bodies on the Ground, Sirens in the Air

Disturbing scenes followed — fans trampled, unconscious bodies dragged across pavements, and emergency crews performing CPR in the streets. Videos showed police overwhelmed, unable to control the torrent of people pouring into every entrance.

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah confirmed the death toll at 11 and announced ₹10 lakh compensation per victim. At least 33 others remain hospitalized with serious injuries.

“No celebration is worth a single life,” the CM said. “This should never have happened.”

Blame Game Begins: ‘We Didn’t Expect This Madness’

Officials admitted they were caught off guard by the sheer magnitude of the crowd.

“We planned for 35,000. Instead, over 2-3 lakh

Now the game is over , The celebrations that were meant to mark a historic triumph for RCB have instead left the nation in mourning. As families grieve their unimaginable loss, the tragedy serves as a painful reminder that public euphoria must never come at the cost of safety.

While the franchise and authorities now face mounting questions, one thing is clear: such lapses can never be repeated. Cricket may unite millions—but it must never again claim lives in celebration.
