Calling it a proud day for Pakistan, PM Shehbaz praised Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi for his leadership in fast-tracking the stadium’s transformation. “The reconstruction of Gaddafi Stadium has been completed in a truly spectacular manner,” he stated.
The prime minister commended the teamwork that made the renovation possible within just 117 days. “This project is proof that nothing is impossible when everyone works together,” he said.
In a lighthearted remark, Shehbaz noted Naqvi’s tendency to reward excellence with London trips. “I’d suggest he take the 2,500 workers to London as a gesture of appreciation,” he quipped.
Optimism for Cricket and Economic Recovery
PM Shehbaz also expressed hope for Pakistan’s cricket team, voicing confidence in their chances at the Champions Trophy. “We eagerly await our team’s triumph. InshaAllah, we will see the day when Pakistan defeats India,” he declared.

Naqvi Recognizes Workers’ Dedication
PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi lauded the relentless efforts of the 2,500 workers who ensured the stadium’s timely renovation. “Some of them hadn’t been home in three months, and today we honored their hard work with a luncheon,” he shared.
He also credited the Pakistan Army for stepping in during critical moments and acknowledged the Punjab government’s role in maintaining the stadium’s surroundings. “Without their cooperation, this area would have been filled with debris,” he noted.
A Star-Studded Celebration
The inauguration concluded on a high note, with electrifying performances by folk legend Arif Lohar, singer Aima Baig, and music icon Ali Zafar, making the event a grand spectacle for the enthusiastic crowd.
