Islamabad: India’s defeat against Pakistan sparked a storm on social media after the Indian cricket board (BCCI) posted about the loss on X without naming Pakistan as the winning team. The omission quickly drew criticism, with users asking why Pakistan’s name was avoided despite the clear result.

Social media platforms were flooded with reactions, as many accused the BCCI of embarrassment and hesitation following the defeat. Pakistani fans, meanwhile, celebrated the Under-19 team’s dominant performance, hailing the players as future stars of international cricket.
Indian media also reflected a gloomy mood, with several outlets openly criticizing the team’s poor performance. Analysts and fans questioned the batting collapse and the team’s overall approach during the match.
Former Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan also came under fire online, with users sharing sarcastic posts and pointed remarks after the loss. Indian supporters expressed frustration over the opener’s dismissal, saying he lost composure at a crucial moment.
The result not only triggered celebrations in Pakistan but also ignited debate and criticism across Indian media and social platforms. Senior Pakistani journalist Hamid Mir reacted by asking the BCCI online, “Who defeated you—any name?”
Several users mocked the omission through poetry and repeated reminders, urging the Indian board to “remember the name Pakistan.” Former wicketkeeper-batsman Atiq-uz-Zaman commented that the trophy deserved to be placed at the Asian Cricket Council headquarters.
Despite visible frustration among Indian fans, some users acknowledged Pakistan’s dominant display in the final.
Meanwhile, Pakistan team mentor Sarfaraz Ahmed criticized the Indian players’ behavior, saying it was not in line with the spirit of the game. He revealed that he had advised Pakistani players to maintain sportsmanship and not respond to rudeness with rudeness. A video clip of Sarfaraz guiding his players calmly has since gone viral on social media.
