The Asia Cup 2025 final win has turned into a full-blown controversy after Team India refused to accept the trophy from Asian Cricket Council (ACC) Chairperson and PCB Chief Mohsin Naqvi.

BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia confirmed the matter will be taken up at the ICC meeting in Dubai this November, accusing Naqvi of mishandling the ceremony.
📌 Why India said no to the trophy?
Saikia revealed India had already informed the ACC that the team would not receive the trophy from Naqvi, citing government policy. He stressed that while the players were proud of defeating Pakistan, they stood firm on not taking the cup from a sitting Pakistan Government leader.
📌 Naqvi’s reaction
The ceremony ended awkwardly with Naqvi handing out only runner-up medals, then leaving with the trophy and medals in hand. Indian officials have demanded their return, calling the move “shocking.”
📌 BCCI’s reward
Despite the standoff, the BCCI honored its players with a massive ₹21 crore cash reward for their victory.
