Renowned drama writer Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar faces online backlash for portraying a controversial teacher-student romance in his latest drama Main Mantoo Nahi Hoon.
Khlil , a celebrated drama writer known for delivering numerous hit shows, has always been as controversial as he is successful. His latest statement has once again ignited heated debates on social media.
Qamar is facing criticism for depicting a romantic relationship between a teacher and student in his drama “Main Manto Nahi Hoon”. In response, he defended his work in his trademark bold style, using words that many social media users found objectionable.

He stated,
“I have shown love between a teacher and student, and love is not a crime. Both are unmarried and can marry.”
He added,
“It is not an affair but love. My characters are single, and there is genuine affection between them. This is not a case of a married teacher having an affair with a student.”
The playwright further explained,
“There is a difference between criticism and mere barking. Constructive criticism can lead to improvement.”
Qamar also pointed out,
“The truth is that many female teachers have married their students, and I know several such cases. In society, even people in their 70s get married. So why is criticism being directed at my characters when they reflect real-life scenarios?”
