Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s debut series, “Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar,” has been renewed for a second season by Netflix.
The announcement was celebrated with a flash mob on Mumbai’s Carter Road, featuring dancers in anarkalis performing to songs from the show.
Season 2 will explore the journey of women from Lahore entering the film industries of Mumbai and Kolkata post-Partition.
Bhansali highlighted the series’ intense production, spanning 350 days over three years. Season 1, set between 1920 and 1947, has been a significant success, topping Netflix charts in multiple countries.
