Pakistani rapper Talha Anjum has finally addressed the storm that erupted after he waved the Indian flag during a live performance in Nepal. The viral moment sparked massive backlash across Pakistan — and now, the Young Stunners star has issued a clear apology.
In a recent interview on a private news channel, Anjum explained what really happened on stage. He said a concertgoer handed him the Indian flag while he was performing Kaun Talha, a diss track aimed at Indian rapper Naezy. Caught up in the moment, Anjum assumed it was a gesture of support from Indian fans in the crowd.
“I was performing ‘Kaun Talha’ when an Indian fan gave me the flag,” he said. “I took it respectfully — I didn’t even realise how long I held it.”
Anjum admitted he misunderstood the situation and said the moment looked very different from the audience’s angle. The rapper also acknowledged that he should have handled it differently.
This apology comes days after heated online debate — intensified by Anjum’s initial post-show reaction where he had boldly stated he would “do it again.” At the time, he tweeted:
“My art has no borders. My heart has no hate… If raising an Indian flag is controversial, so be it.”
However, when asked on the show whether his apology was unconditional, he said yes without hesitation.
“To everyone who felt hurt, I apologise,” Anjum said.
“If my fans aren’t with me, I’m nothing. I am what I am because of Pakistan — everywhere I go, they call me one of the finest Pakistani rappers.”
