Released in 1982, Zakhmi Insaan is remembered as one of the biggest flops in Indian cinema history.
Directed by Deepak Bilraj Vijay, the film starred Shakti Kapoor in his first-ever lead role, with Rita Bhardwaj, Aruna Irani, and others. But just 15 minutes after its release, the movie was pulled from theaters—setting a global record for the quickest removal.
In a recent appearance on The Kapil Sharma Show, Shakti Kapoor shared the crazy story behind this iconic flop. He recalled, “I thought it was time to become a hero, so I took the lead role in Zakhmi Insaan. But the movie ended up disappointing everyone—the producer, the director, and the audience. It was released at 12:00 PM, and by 12:15 PM, it was gone.”
Shakti also revealed that before the film’s release, he had turned down several villain roles, but after the film bombed, he had to go back and ask for those same roles again. It turned out to be his first and last attempt at a lead role.
With over three decades in the industry, Shakti Kapoor has appeared in more than 700 films. In recent years, he had a small role in the 2023 hit Animal, alongside Ranbir Kapoor, Bobby Deol, and Rashmika Mandanna. The movie was a massive success, earning over 900 crore rupees at the box office.
