Sadak 2-Bollywood’s Biggest Flop Faces Major Backlash

-

Every year, Bollywood drops a mix of new films on its box office, with some hitting big and others crashing. But there’s one film that bombed over the past four years.

It got so much backlash before it even hit theaters; its trailer alone earned millions of dislikes! Originally slated for a 2020 premiere, its trailer was released but the film never actually made it to the big screen.

“Sadak 2,” the sequel to the 1991 blockbuster “Sadak,”

The movie in question is “Sadak 2,” the sequel to the 1991 blockbuster “Sadak,” starring Pooja Bhatt and Sanjay Dutt. Directed by Mahesh Bhatt and produced by Fox Star Studios under Mukesh Bhatt’s banner, the action thriller had a star-studded cast including Sanjay Dutt, Alia Bhatt, and Aditya Roy Kapoor, with Pooja Bhatt taking on a special cameo role.

Before its release, “Sadak 2” found itself caught up in major controversy. The untimely death of Sushant Singh Rajput led to a massive public backlash, linking “Sadak 2” to debates over nepotism in Bollywood. This negative sentiment hit hard, leading many viewers to boycott the film. Despite being prepared for a 2020 theatrical release, its premiere moved to an OTT platform, where it faced even more rejection from audiences.

Mahesh Bhatt’s rumored connections to Rhea Chakraborty in the Sushant Singh Rajput case only intensified the controversy. Plus, the film faced accusations of offending religious sentiments. The trailer alone set a negative record, amassing over 10 million dislikes on YouTube. Critics panned “Sadak 2” for its acting, script, and dialogue execution.
