Known for his unmatched comic timing and versatile performances, Javed Kodu’s death marks the end of an era in Pakistani stage and film comedy.

Javed Kodu’s prolific career spanned decades, during which he appeared in more than 150 films and countless stage plays and television dramas. His ability to evoke laughter with effortless precision earned him a place among the most respected and adored comedians of his time.

The funeral prayer was offered in the Singh Pura area of Lahore, where a large number of colleagues, admirers, and senior artists gathered to pay their final respects. Theater actor Jowad Waseem led the prayer, which was attended by renowned names from the showbiz industry including Khalid Abbas Dar, Afzal Khan Rambo, Kashif Mahmood, Naseem Viki, and others.

Fellow actors Sohail Ahmad, Naseem Viki, and Kashif Mahmood shared emotional tributes, remembering Javed Kodu as not only a gifted artist but also a generous, humble individual who brought joy to everyone around him.

Throughout his career, he shared the stage with iconic performers like Amanullah Khan, Babu Baral, and Sohail Ahmad, and played a pivotal role in shaping the tradition of live comedy in Pakistan.

Javed Kodu had been undergoing treatment at Lahore’s General Hospital and is survived by his wife and three children.

Though he is no longer with us, Javed Kodu’s laughter, legacy, and contributions to Pakistani performing arts will live on in the hearts of millions.

Azma Bokhari further stated that his distinctive humor and remarkable command over his craft have left an indelible mark on audiences. With his passing, Pakistani stage and comedy have lost a true icon.
