Drama banned by PEMRA on public demand for its pathetic content

Pakistani Drama 'Very Filmy' banned

Ramadan always brings new shows to the Pakistani television. Following the tremendous success of “Suno Chanda”, every Ramadan special dramas are televised and all the channels try to one up others with their series every year.

This Ramadan we have gotten so many Ramadan specials and Hum TV, the pioneer of this trend has also released two shows. Very Filmy is one drama that is getting a lot of views and it is also causing a lot of debate among the audience.

Very Filmy, first aired on HUM TV on March 12, 2024, and in the begining it became hit among the viewers for its light-hearted approach and unique plotline.

It stars Ameer Gilani and Dananeer Mobeen in lead roles and follows the story of two different individuals who are forced to tie the knot under certain circumstances.

The drama is showcasing many Indian movie recreations as the plot follows the hero pretending to copy SRK. The iconic scenes are copied from some very famous movies including Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Pathaan and Devdas.

People think that copying Indian movies is pathetic and this content does not make sense to be telecast in Ramadan. There is a lot of backlash among the audience and many even called for the drama to be banned as India always belittle Pakisan in their content while Pakistanis are promoting their actors. Furthermore, mocking of the Shah Rukh Khan movies did not sit well with netizens, who demanded an immediate ban on the drama.

Some were disappointed that Pakistani dramas are now making fun of another nation’s drama for attention, while others were miffed that the dramas are promoting Indian movies.
