Shami granted bail upon submission of a Rs2.5 million surety bond
Aamir Liaquat case takes new turns as arrest warrants have been issued for the renowned Pakistani YouTuber Yasir Shami in connection with the video leak case involving late Dr. Aamir Liaquat Hussain.
This development emerged following a post on social media by Dr. Bushra Iqbal, the former wife of the politician-TV host.
Bushra, who has been embroiled in a legal conflict with Yasir and Aamir’s third wife, Dania Shah, posted photocopies of the non-bailable arrest warrants on her Instagram account, bringing attention to the ongoing legal battle.
In a detailed caption accompanying the post, Bushra highlighted the details of the arrest warrant, stating, “The Court of Judicial Magistrate Karachi has issued a non-bailable arrest warrant against Yasir Shami, the accused and absconder, in the cybercrime case involving the obscene video leak of Aamir Liaquat (late).”
Amid significant public interest, the case reached its resolution when Shami appeared in the Karachi City Courts, where Judicial Magistrate East presided over the proceedings.
Despite facing serious allegations, Yasir Shami was granted bail upon furnishing a Rs2.5 million surety bond. Additionally, the court instructed Shami to present himself before the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to provide his statement regarding the case.
This development comes after a series of court summons issued due to Shami’s repeated absence from proceedings. Legal representatives have stressed the importance of Shami’s presence in advancing the case, with lawyer Sarkar highlighting the issuance of an arrest warrant due to his persistent non-appearance.
The legal saga surrounding the viral videos of Dr. Aamir Liaquat Hussain has involved multiple individuals, including accused Daniya Shah, who has been granted bail.
Representing Shah, Liaqat Gabol emphasized Shami’s crucial role in the case’s progression, attributing delays to his actions.
Looking ahead, the upcoming hearing scheduled for May 23 is expected to be pivotal, as arguments will be presented regarding the confirmation of Yasir Shami’s bail. Furthermore, with the surrender of another accused in the case, the legal landscape is poised to evolve, with an amended charge sheet anticipated to be filed during the upcoming hearing.
