Bollywood actor Rajpal Yadav’s property in Shahjahanpur, Uttar Pradesh, has been seized over a substantial loan default.
This development underscores ongoing financial issues for Yadav, who is well-known for his extensive career in Indian cinema.
Yadav took out a loan of INR 3 crore from a Mumbai bank branch, securing it against properties owned by his father, Naurang Yadav, in Shahjahanpur.
The debt, which initially amounted to INR 3 crore, has surged to INR 11 crore due to accrued interest and penalties following missed payments.
On August 8, a team from the Central Bank’s Mumbai branch arrived in Shahjahanpur to seal the property, marking a significant escalation in the bank’s recovery efforts.
At 53, Rajpal Yadav, a Shahjahanpur native, has appeared in over 150 films across various languages, including Hindi, Marathi, Telugu, Kannada, and Bengali.
He is particularly renowned for his comedic roles, including his performance in “Bhool Bhulaiyaa.”
Despite his successful film career, Yadav has previously encountered financial difficulties, including legal issues related to a loan for his directorial project, “Ata Pata Lapata.”
The current property seizure is connected to a loan taken under his production house, Shri Naurang Godavari Entertainment Limited.
The film produced by Radha Yadav, featuring Rajpal Yadav and the late Om Puri, failed to meet box office expectations.
As of now, neither Rajpal Yadav nor the Central Bank of India has issued an official statement regarding the property seizure.
