Anil Mehta, 65, died on Wednesday morning by jumping from the sixth-floor balcony of his residence in Bandra.
Mehta’s wife, Joyce Polycarp, was in their flat at Ayesha Manor in Bandra when the incident took place.
Anil Kuldip Mehta made a final phone call to his daughters, actress Malaika Arora and Amrita Arora just before Just moments before his suicide .

Hours later, a statement released by Malaika on Instagram expressed the family’s profound grief over the tragic death of their father.
“We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our dear father, Anil Mehta. He was a gentle soul, a devoted grandfather, a loving husband, and our best friend. Our family is in deep shock over this loss, and we kindly request privacy from the media and well-wishers during this difficult time. We appreciate your understanding, support, and respect,” the statement reads.
Later , a post-mortem report confirmed the cause of death.
