Islamabad — October 16, 2025 — Pakistani actress Hania Amir, famous for her on-screen talent, has now stepped into a powerful real-world role. The United Nations has officially appointed her as Pakistan’s Goodwill Ambassador for Women, giving her a platform to champion women’s rights and inspire change nationwide.

In a statement shared on Instagram, UN Women Pakistan welcomed Hania Amir, highlighting that she will use her voice to amplify the concerns of women and girls, raise awareness, and encourage empowerment across the country.
“Together, we aim for a future where every woman and girl can live free from violence, discrimination, and inequality, unlocking their full potential,” the statement said.
Hania Amir is the second Pakistani to receive this prestigious honor. In 2015, Muniba Mazari became the first. In South Asia, Hania is the third woman and fourth personality overall, joining Muniba Mazari, former Indian tennis star Sania Mirza, and Bollywood filmmaker-actor Farhan Akhtar.
Globally, Hollywood stars such as Emma Watson, Nicole Kidman, and Anne Hathaway have also served as UN Women Goodwill Ambassadors.
Several other Pakistani celebrities have been appointed goodwill ambassadors for various UN agencies. Actor Fawad Khan represents the UN Development Program, while Shahzad Roy is the UNODC Goodwill Ambassador. Actresses Mahira Khan and Saba Qamar serve as ambassadors for UNHCR and UNICEF, respectively.
