A legal notice demanding Rs180 million has been served to social media singer Kashif Rana, known as Chahat Fateh Ali Khan, for his alleged substandard singing and defamation of the renowned artist Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan.
The notice, dispatched to Chahat Fateh Ali Khan’s residence in the UK by Mian Muhammad Umair Niaz on behalf of Qaiser Munir Khan, warns of a defamation lawsuit if no response is received within 15 days.
Accusations in the notice include claims that Chahat Fateh Ali Khan misrepresented himself as a relative of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan and that his singing has tarnished Nusrat’s legacy, thereby offending the people of Faisalabad and violating copyright laws.
The notice demands a public apology from Chahat Fateh Ali Khan on social media within the stipulated time frame.
Failure to comply may lead to legal action and a defamation lawsuit seeking Rs180 million in damages.
