PMD Alerts Karachi Residents as Torrential Rains Can Cause Flooding

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast heavy monsoon rains across the country from August 1 to 6, with occasional breaks.

On Wednesday night, several parts of Karachi experienced heavy rain, flooding low-lying areas of the city.

Various parts of Karachi, including Saddar, I.I. Chundrigar Road, Baldia Town, Defence, and North Karachi, saw intermittent showers.

In Sindh, the Met Office predicts monsoon rains in areas such as Mithi, Sanghar, Mirpur Khas, Khairpur, Thatta, Badin, Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur, Larkana, Jacobabad, and Dadu from August 2 to 6.

The forecast also includes rain and thunderstorms in regions like Kashmir, Islamabad/Rawalpindi, Lahore, Faisalabad, and Sialkot from August 1 to 6, and in Bahawalpur, Multan, and Rahimyar Khan from August 2 to 6.

Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan will also experience heavy rains during this period, with specific areas warned about potential flash flooding and landslides.

The PMD has advised residents, farmers, and travelers to take precautions, with local authorities urged to stay alert and implement necessary measures to prevent any adverse effects from the heavy downpour.
