Lahore Airport Faces Flight Disruptions Due to Heavy Rain

-

Heavy rain in Lahore has partially disrupted flight operations at the city’s airport. Planes are currently stuck in accumulated rainwater at the airport.

The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) is working to clear the runway and surrounding areas to resume normal take-offs and landings.

The monsoon showers drenched Lahore with 350 millimeters of rain in just three hours, setting a new 44-year record.

The Met Office forecasts that strong monsoon currents from the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal will bring heavy rains across the country from August 1 to 6, with occasional breaks.

The heavy rain has also caused widespread flooding in roads and streets throughout Lahore and disrupted electricity as approximately 288 feeders of the Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) tripped.

LESCO is urging consumers to be patient while repair teams work to restore power.
