“Water is Pakistan’s Red Line” , Says COAS Gen Asim Munir

-

Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir has drawn a firm red line, declaring that Pakistan will never accept India’s monopoly over water resources. Speaking at the ‘Hilal Talks’ session in Rawalpindi, he asserted that the right to water for 240 million Pakistanis is non-negotiable, warning that any attempt to violate it will not be tolerated.

The COAS also reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering stance on Kashmir, calling it a core issue that cannot be sidelined or negotiated away. “No deal on Kashmir is possible. We can never forget Kashmir, and India must know that Pakistan will never abandon the Kashmiri people,” he said, slamming India’s long-standing efforts to bury the issue.

In an address to over 1,800 participants from the education sector, including vice chancellors, principals, and senior teachers, Gen Munir highlighted the vital role of teachers in shaping the nation’s future. “Whatever I am today is because of my parents and teachers,” he said, urging educators to promote a narrative rooted in unity, peace, and critical thinking.

He pointed out the challenges faced by Pakistan’s higher education sector and voiced support for initiatives that promote research, innovation, and quality education. Emphasizing national sovereignty, the COAS dismissed India’s claims around terrorism, stating it is an internal issue born out of rising oppression against minorities, especially Muslims.

Calling for institutional harmony and rule of law, he stressed the need for all institutions to serve the people above political or personal interests. He also rejected any links between the people of Balochistan and militant elements, stating clearly that Fitna-ul-Hindustan has no place among the patriotic Baloch.

Participants responded with chants of “Ye jo mehfooz dharti hai, iske peeche wardi hai,” voicing pride in Pakistan’s armed forces and their role in securing the country. Gen Munir concluded by encouraging continued intellectual dialogue through initiatives like Hilal Talks and pledged unwavering support for a strong, united, and prosperous Pakistan.
