Tom Suozzi has been appointed as the new Chairman of the Pakistan Caucus in the US Congress, succeeding Sheila Jackson Lee after her recent passing.
Congressman Tom Suozzi, who has represented New York since 2017, expressed his commitment to further strengthening Pakistan-US bilateral relations in his new role.
Following his appointment, Suozzi met with Democratic leader Dr. Asif Riaz Qadeer and community leader Tanveer Ahmed. During the meeting, Dr. Qadeer invited Suozzi to visit Pakistan, an offer he accepted with enthusiasm.
Tom Suozzi is set to visit Pakistan in November, where he aims to engage further with Pakistani leaders.
The congressman’s appointment follows the legacy of Sheila Jackson Lee, a strong advocate for Pakistan who was honored with the Hilal-e-Pakistan award for her support during times of natural disasters in the country.
