Former Google executive Tania Aidrus TO HEAD PM Shehbaz’s Digital Pakistan Initiative

There’s a major buzz in Islamabad as former executive from Google Tania Aidrus joined PM Shehbaz’s Digital Pakistan Initiative. The Government of Pakistan has taken a significant step towards digital transformation by establishing a high-level committee headed by Tania Aidrus to pave the way for the National Digital Commission and Digital Pakistan Authority.

The committee, chaired by Minister of State Shaza Fatima, includes seven IT and digital experts led by Tania Andrus as the convener.

The committee’s primary goal is to establish a strong legal and policy framework that bridges the gap between current governance structures and future digital initiatives. By pinpointing areas where technology can generate economic benefits, the committee aims to leverage digital solutions to drive Pakistan towards sustainable growth and development.

Additionally, the committee will devise strategies to leverage technology for improving governance practices, ensuring transparency, efficiency, and accountability. This initiative highlights Pakistan’s commitment to embracing digital innovation as a driver for progress, economic prosperity, and enhanced governance.

With a well-defined roadmap, the National Digital Commission and Digital Pakistan Authority are poised to transform the country’s digital landscape, ushering in a brighter and more technologically advanced future.

Tania Aidrus has been a senior Executive of Google . She was the Chief of Staff and Head of Strategic Initiatives on the Next Billion Users (NBU) team at Google which is focused on building new products and services that are aimed at addressing the emerging trends and needs of users in growth markets.

Tania also co-founded a mobile health diagnosis company called ClickDiagnostics, focused on connecting rural patients in emerging markets to doctors globally.

She holds an MBA from the MIT Sloan School of Management and a BSc from Brandeis University.
