Swabi Rally Controversy: American Flag Sparks Clash at PTI Event

-

At a recent PTI rally in Swabi, a controversy unfolded when a PTI worker attempted to wave a US flag during the event. Nearby workers quickly intervened, urging the individual to lower the flag and some even tried to forcibly remove it. Despite their efforts, the worker continued waving the flag, but it was eventually taken away by other attendees. The incident sparked a significant reaction, with a video of the altercation quickly going viral on social media, causing a mix of public responses.

A verbal clash unfolded between Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Information Advisor Barrister Saif and Punjab Information Minister Azma Bokhari regarding the display of a US flag at a Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) rally in Swabi.

Barrister Saif accused the “illegitimate government” of orchestrating the incident, alleging that the US flag was deliberately raised as part of a conspiracy, according to Express News. He further criticized the government for using “underhanded tactics” and argued that such actions would not harm Imran Khan’s popularity. Saif confirmed an investigation was underway, with the K-P government condemning the incident and pledging action against the individual responsible.

In response, Azma Bokhari condemned PTI for allowing the US flag at the rally, stating, “Those who once opposed US influence now appear to be pledging loyalty to American interests.” She also highlighted alleged internal discord within PTI, claiming that after the rally’s failure, senior leaders, including K-P Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, were in conflict and undermining the party leadership.

Bokhari underscored PTI’s internal divisions, noting a lack of respect for party leadership and escalating power struggles. She concluded by stating that without Imran Khan’s direction, PTI was drifting towards decline.

The incident last week, involving a US flag raised at a PTI rally in Swabi, sparked widespread criticism and prompted K-P Chief Minister’s Adviser on Information, Barrister Saif, to initiate legal action against the party worker involved.
