Sindh Police Cracks Down on Illegal Hotels – 9 Foreign Nationals Detained

-

In a decisive move to enhance security, Sindh Police has cracked down on illegal hotels and guesthouses, detaining nine foreign nationals residing unlawfully and shutting down unregistered establishments.

Sindh Police has launched a crackdown against hotels and guesthouses operating without Tourism Department certificates and registration in the Hotel Eye system, detaining nine foreign nationals residing illegally.

Following an attack near the airport targeting foreign citizens, a meeting chaired by Sindh Home Minister Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjhar and IG Sindh Ghulam Nabi Memon tasked the CIA Karachi with action against unregistered hotels and guesthouses.

According to DIG CIA Muqaddas Haider, the CIA searched around 150 hotels and guesthouses across Karachi, detaining nine foreign nationals residing illegally. Over 100 establishments not registered with the Tourism Department or Sindh Police’s Hotel Eye software were identified, with notices sent to relevant authorities highlighting security risks posed by such facilities.

SSP Specialized Investigation Unit, Shoaib Memon, stated that while local police routinely crack down on illegal hotels and guesthouses, the recent surge in terrorism prompted a high-level directive to intensify the operation. Six teams were formed under the Specialized Investigation Unit to carry out the task.

The search revealed that many hotels and guesthouses lacked Tourism Department certification and were not registered in the Hotel Eye system. The CIA has shut down these establishments and recommended filing formal cases against them for legal violations.
