Sindh, Punjab Announce New School Timings & Exam Schedule for Ramadan

-

With Ramadan around the corner, the Sindh and Punjab Education Departments have introduced revised school timings and rescheduled exams to ensure a smooth academic routine during the holy month.

In Sindh, all primary, secondary, higher secondary, and elementary schools will follow the new schedule. Single-shift primary schools will operate from 8:00 AM to 1:30 PM, with Friday timings set from 8:00 AM to 11:30 AM. Double-shift schools will have their first shift from 7:30 AM to 11:30 AM and the second from 11:45 AM to 2:45 PM, with Friday’s second shift concluding at 1:30 PM. Secondary, higher secondary, and elementary schools will follow similar adjustments.

Punjab has also announced updated school timings, with single-shift schools operating from 8:30 AM to 1:00 PM from Monday to Thursday and closing at 12:30 PM on Fridays. Double-shift schools will have their first shift from 8:30 AM to 12:00 PM and the second from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM. Additionally, female students will be dismissed 15 minutes earlier than the official closing time.

Matric and Inter Exams Rescheduled

In another major development, the Sindh government has postponed matric and intermediate theory exams. Matric exams will now begin on April 7, while intermediate exams will start on April 28, instead of the previously scheduled March 15 and April 15. Meanwhile, matric practical exams will commence on March 10, with inter practical exam dates to be announced later.

The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee is set to meet in Peshawar on February 28 for the sighting of the Ramadan moon. However, forecasts from the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) and Suparco suggest that the first fast is expected on March 2.
