Road to Makkah Project – Karachi airport included in Saudi initiative

“Road to Makkah” project aims at providing special services for pilgrims at the Karachi airport, facilitating their long journey to Hajj

Karachi’s Jinnah Terminal Airport has been incorporated into the Road to Makkah initiative. As a result, all immigration procedures for Pakistani Hajj pilgrims will now be conducted in Karachi.

Under the Road to Makkah project, pilgrims will enjoy enhanced facilities. Instead of undergoing immigration procedures in Saudi Arabia, departing Hajj pilgrims will complete them at Karachi airport. The Saudi Aviation Authority will deploy staff for this purpose, eliminating the need for immigration at Jeddah and Madinah airports.

Preparations at Karachi Airport for the Road to Makkah project are in their final stages, with the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) reserving space for two counters dedicated to Saudi immigration officials.

Karachi’s Director Hajj, Gulzar Soomro, announced that the inaugural flight under the Road to Makkah project will depart from Karachi to Madinah on May 9.

As part of the government scheme, 16,281 pilgrims from Karachi, 1,000 from Sukkur, and 2,200 from Quetta will depart from Jinnah Terminal to Madinah under the Road to Makkah project.

The government will cover the cost of plastic wrapping for the luggage of pilgrims departing from Karachi. Additionally, training sessions for intending Hajj pilgrims will commence in Karachi starting today.
