Punjab’s Pollution Crisis- Why We’re Running Out of Labs to Tackle It ?

-

Lahore and other cities in Punjab are not only battling severe air pollution but also facing a major shortage of environmental labs. With just 14 registered labs, many of which have expired licenses, industrial units are struggling to get accurate emissions reports.

Private labs conduct the tests, but they’re often unreliable, with industries sometimes manipulating the results. Experts are calling for more certified labs and stricter checks to ensure the integrity of these reports.

Dr. Zia-ul-Haq suggests setting up mobile labs to directly inspect industrial units. The Environmental Protection Agency is currently working to renew licenses and establish new labs, with a decision expected soon.
