The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) have agreed to intensify their dialogue as they gear up for a nationwide campaign against electoral malpractice.
Confirming the development, PTI leader Asad Qaiser disclosed that he had a telephonic conversation with JUI-F Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman, extending Eid ul Fitr greetings and discussing the current political landscape and government formation process. Both parties acknowledged the importance of bolstering inter-party communication.
Expressing reservations about the formation of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N)-led coalition government, Qaiser emphasized that both parties rejected the electoral process leading to the current administration’s establishment, alleging the theft of public mandate. He stressed the necessity for a concerted public movement against the perceived illegitimate government.
Qaiser highlighted the ideological alignment between PTI and JUI-F regarding the proposed public mobilization. Additionally, he proposed the formation of a united platform, “Tehreek-e-Tahaffuz-e-Dastoor,” to rally parties advocating for constitutional supremacy.
This recent dialogue marks a continuation of previous engagements between the erstwhile political adversaries, which intensified following dissatisfaction with the election outcomes. Despite initial skepticism within PTI ranks, Qaiser clarified that these interactions were sanctioned by incarcerated party leader Imran Khan and primarily focused on offering condolences to Maulana Fazlur Rehman.
Furthermore, PTI and JUI-F are reportedly exploring the possibility of forming an alliance and have initiated discussions on electoral irregularities and future strategies. An alliance committee is expected to be formed to facilitate negotiations and formulate recommendations.
Meanwhile, the opposition alliance, comprising various parties including PTI, has initiated protest activities against the government, vowing to pursue their demands through collective action.
